Junior Dance Instructor
Isabelle “Issy” O’Connell is a passionate and versatile dancer who has trained in Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, and Acro. With many years of experience at Not Just Another Dance Studio, Issy has grown into a well-rounded performer and emerging choreographer. She graduated from Glendale Secondary School, where she majored in dance and actively participated in the school’s performing arts program.
Issy began competing in 2020 with Not Just Another Dance Studio, but has been dancing there since 2013. Issy has performed in numerous school musicals. She was honoured to serve as Junior Dance Captain in the 2024 production of Newsies. In her senior year, she choreographed and danced in her culminating project, Winter’s Echo: A Show of Grief and Resilience, showcasing her ability to tell powerful stories through movement.
Her dedication and talent have earned her recognition, including a nomination for Excellence in Dance at her high school. Most recently, Issy was offered a spot on Team Canada’s World Performers for 2026, where she will represent the country in Tap and Contemporary.
Beyond performance, Issy has a deep passion for working with children and sharing her love of dance. She began by helping at her mother’s daycare, went on to assist at NJADS, and now teaches dance herself. She also completed a co-op placement at Rosedale Elementary School, where she taught dance and supported other school programs.
With a strong foundation, a creative spirit, and a heart for mentoring young dancers, Issy is excited to continue growing as a performer, educator, and leader.
